GeorgeTutor aims to deliver highest standards of expert tuition to all ages, levels and abilities across a wide range of school and university subjects.

I focus on advantages that come with long-term learning strategies, and I can support the whole education of each student with customized delivery styles, thorough coverage of the syllabus and contextualization of my teaching to the requirements of the real world.

However, I’ve learned that everyone who engages my services is also looking for something unique, and therefore has particular requirements for my packaging and scheduling.

The service I most typically deliver to families is a monthly subscription, but within and around that I offer all sorts of variations to fit diverse situations.

It can seem a little complex at first, but to decide on a suitable service package I ask new clients to consider 4 simple questions:

  1. What is your next academic goal, so what service duration do you wish to commit to?
    • Typically, the requirement is to cover an academic course for a year, or a sequence of courses over a few years. A long-term arrangement makes sense in such cases.
  2. Are you looking to match each lesson with a specific topic, or to follow a longer course?
    • It’s unusual for students to need “session-packed” lessons matched to topics, unless exactly following a specific course or remedy. Subscriptions offer much more freedom.
  3. How busy is your student in general – can the student commit to fixed session times?
    • This can be hard to answer with full clarity. Some students can work with “no-flex” slots, while others need extreme flexibility. The majority are happy with standard flexibility.
  4. What speed and intensity of learning are you aiming to achieve?
    • Students who wish to cover more school subjects or to progress more rapidly will, on average, require a greater number of meetings per week. Twice weekly is very typical.

Before you register your student with any GeorgeTutor service, it is an important part of my role to help you navigate these questions, so that you will select a service package that is best suited to your student’s current requirements. I am here to help with that!

However, you may first wish to browse the various packages yourself to compare them and get a feel for the service offering that may work best for you. To make this as convenient as possible, you can explore the table below by clicking any part of it to learn about the corresponding service. When you’re ready to sign up for a service, I’ll gladly discuss it with you in full detail so together we can ensure it’s the right fit for your situation.

In reality, the decision isn’t nearly so complex as it appears! It may help you to begin by looking at “5+ month long-term subscription; 2x weekly; standard flexibility”, which is the service package that, in reality, more than half of my parent/clients actually select.

GeorgeTutor academic mentoring and tutoring:

The first choice is the most important for tutoring success – to get the level of service right.

The levels we offer are:

LIGHT” – Meet on average 1x per week in ONE dedicated slot session (receive about 4-5 units of service per month).

Most suitable for students who need light assistance in one academic subject. Often taken by university students who value a weekly conversation about a specific subject area (eg math, chemistry, etc.).

STANDARD” – Meet on average 2x per week, in TWO dedicated slot sessions (receive about 8-9 units of service per month).

Most suitable for students who need help in two subjects, or focused assistance in just one subject (eg Calculus, Physics or Algebra), or for students wanting light support in one subject plus SAT/ACT preparation. “2” is the option most frequently chosen for high school students.

INTENSIVE” – Meet on average 3x per week, in THREE dedicated slot sessions (receive about 13 units of service per month).

Suitable for students who need help in two subjects, with focused assistance in an advanced subject (eg AP Calculus), or for students wanting full support in one subject plus SAT/ACT preparation. “3” is good for high schoolers who want advanced subject tuition plus assistance with university applications.

HOMESCHOOL” – Meet on average 4x per week, in FOUR dedicated slot sessions (receive about 17 units of service per month).

Suitable for students who want full formative instruction in a course, without necessarily taking the course at school or college. This level of tutoring will follow a compete curriculum to provide a student with an effective homeschooling in a single subject (eg College Physics or AP Calculus). “4” is best for students (at any level) who need complete tuition in a specific course, including introductory lessons for each topic, advice on time management, homework setting and grading and exam preparation.

Please note that for clarity of definition, I use the terms “slot” and “unit” to mean:

unit” is usually a lesson of about 55 minutes’ duration, but it may occasionally be fulfilled by a similar effort, such as time spent grading an essay, assistance with a project, answering written questions, detailed text sessions, accompanying school visits, etc.

slot” is a regular dedicated weekly time, committed to by the student, in which tutoring is generally delivered. A slot session that falls on a federal holiday or that is canceled or missed by the student is not replaced. Any appointment canceled by the Tutor will be replaced within 5 days.
